SWISS Bengaluru-Zurich nonstop flight: what it means
SWISS has started nonstop flights between Bengaluru and Zurich, five a week. Here is what is confirmed, what isn't, and what it changes for an Indian graduate planning a year in Switzerland.
SWISS now flies nonstop between Bengaluru and Zurich, five times a week.[1] The first LX140 left Zurich at 1:34 p.m., and SWISS announced the launch on 28 October 2026.[1] You may have seen 25 October as the start date. That's when Zurich Airport's winter timetable began,[3] not the day of the first departure.
What did SWISS launch, exactly?
Here's what we could confirm from SWISS and Lufthansa Group:
- SWISS flies five nonstop flights a week between Zurich and Bengaluru.[1]
- Bengaluru is SWISS's third destination in India, after Delhi and Mumbai.[1]
- SWISS announced the route on 19 May 2026 and put tickets on sale the same day.[2]
- You can choose from three cabins: First, Business and Economy.[2]
- For Lufthansa Group, it's the third gateway from Bengaluru, joining Frankfurt and Munich.[2]
We haven't listed the operating days or times, because the schedule sites we read disagree and swiss.com wouldn't open for us. Check swiss.com before you plan around a specific day.
Why did SWISS add Bengaluru?
SWISS's chief executive calls India a market with large potential and Bengaluru one of Asia's leading technology and innovation hubs.[1] He says the route supports SWISS's long-haul growth and Switzerland's connections to the world.[1]
Lufthansa Group runs 70+ weekly flights to India in its Winter 2026 schedule.[2] Bengaluru's airport connects to 78 domestic destinations, so you may be able to book a single ticket from a smaller Indian city.[2]
What does the Bengaluru-Zurich route mean for you?
It depends on where you live and what you're deciding.
If you're in Bengaluru or south India. Getting to Switzerland used to mean a change of aircraft somewhere. Now there's a nonstop to Zurich, and connecting flights from other Indian cities may be bookable on one ticket.[2] Whether that beats your current routing on price and timing, only a live fare search can tell you. We haven't compared fares, so we won't claim it's cheaper.
If you're weighing whether to study here at all. The flight doesn't change what the year costs or how you're admitted. It does take one practical worry off your list. And the fee table already includes a complimentary airport pick-up for new students.
If you want a career in airlines. This launch is a small, current case study. An airline looks at a city's business and technology base, sees demand, and adds a third Indian destination.[1] Our MSc in Business and Airline Management is built around that kind of decision. You'd study at the Zurich campus. Core modules include Airline Operations Management, Contemporary Airport Management and Innovation in Aviation. The programme includes the IATA Airport Operations Fundamentals certification. Your next intakes are February 2027, August 2027 and November 2027.
Like every MSc, it lasts 12 months. You spend six months on campus. Then you spend six months off campus on your research project, and an internship is optional if you want one.
