What the fee covers
A bed and three meals, not an invoice
Swiss living costs are the reason most people hesitate about studying here. BHMS removes the question by folding it into the programme price: the CHF 6'150 living-expenses component covers 24 weeks of Shared Standard accommodation (LakeSide Campus: 2-bed shared apartment, no kitchen) and meals.
That sits inside the CHF 41'700 MSc total alongside CHF 31'800 tuition, CHF 2'750 operating costs and the CHF 1'000 application fee. The MBA with Specialisation follows the same structure at CHF 44'700.

Surcharges are added to the standard programme fee, and a refundable room deposit of CHF 1'500 is also required. Room allocation is confirmed at application.

Included in the CHF 41'700 MSc total and the CHF 44'700 MBA total. On the 18-month MSc + MBA route the equivalent components, at 2026 rates (the BHMS 2027 fee table does not list that route), are CHF 3'900 operating costs and CHF 8'850 living expenses for 36 weeks.

Lucerne is not a compromise
Lucerne sits in central Switzerland where the lake meets the mountains — a compact old town of covered bridges and painted facades, with water on one side and peaks on the other. It is small enough to cross on foot and central enough that the rest of the country is a train ride away.
It is also a working tourist destination in its own right — useful when your degree is about hospitality, tourism or food.

Is accommodation included in the fee?
Yes. Shared Standard accommodation (LakeSide Campus: 2-bed shared apartment, no kitchen) and meals are included in every master's fee as the living-expenses component — CHF 6'150 covering 24 weeks. There is no separate rent to budget for on top of the CHF 41'700 MSc total, with one exception in the 2027 fee table: standard shared accommodation in Zurich carries a CHF 2'080 surcharge. A refundable room deposit of CHF 1'500 is also required.
Can I have a room to myself?
Yes, as a paid upgrade on top of the standard fee. A Studio Standard at the LakeSide Campus is a CHF 4'900 surcharge, a Studio Superior at the City Campus CHF 7'900, and a superior studio in Zurich CHF 7'920.
Which campus will I study at — Lucerne or Zurich?
It depends on the programme. International Tourism Management, Wine and Beverage Business Management, Culinary Entrepreneurship and the MBA with Specialisation run in Lucerne. Business, Sports and Event Management, Business, Banking and Finance, Business and Airline Management run in Zurich. Global Business Management and International Hospitality Business Management are delivered at both Lucerne and Zurich.
What do the operating costs of CHF 2'750 cover?
Operating costs cover mandatory health and medical insurance, visa and B-permit administration plus local tax, e-campus and internet access, the internship placement service, and your first airport pick-up.
Do I need to arrange Swiss health insurance and my visa myself?
No — both are handled through the operating-costs component of CHF 2'750, which includes mandatory health and medical insurance and the visa/B-permit and local tax administration.
