QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026

Careers after a BHMS master's in Switzerland

In Hospitality & Leisure Management, BHMS ranks #12 in the world — and #7 in the world for employer reputation, the measure built from what employers say. BHMS cites that employer score as the driver of its ranking improvement.

The proof point that matters

Employers rank BHMS higher than the school ranks overall

Most school rankings measure academics talking about academics. Employer reputation measures something else entirely: what the people who do the hiring say when they are asked to name the institutions producing the graduates they want.

In the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, BHMS placed #7 in the world for employer reputation in Hospitality & Leisure Management — ahead of its #12 position in the subject overall. BHMS cites that employer score as the reason the overall rank improved. It is the single strongest independent signal on this page, and it comes from industry rather than from the school.

The award

One year of study. Two degrees on the CV.

Every BHMS MSc — and the MBA with Specialisation — is awarded jointly by BHMS and Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. You finish a single twelve-month programme in Switzerland holding a Swiss qualification and a UK university degree, worth 90 ECTS / 180 UK credits.

For a recruiter scanning a CV, that is two recognisable credentials from two education systems in the time most candidates spend earning one — and a UK degree title that reads without translation in markets where a Swiss school name might not.

About Robert Gordon University

Scotland's top-ranked modern university in the current editions of all three major UK league tables, and Top 20 in the UK for graduate career prospects (Guardian 2026).

The dual award is confirmed for all eight MSc programmes, the MBA with Specialisation and the Graduate Certificate.

The industry network

Over 40 hospitality brands, on the partner list

BHMS lists more than 40 major hospitality brands among its industry partners — the names that recruit across the sector worldwide:

  • Accor
  • Four Seasons
  • Hilton
  • Hyatt
  • Kempinski
  • Mandarin Oriental
  • Ritz Carlton
  • The Chedi

Semester 2 of every MSc is a six-month independent research project with an optional six-month industry internship, in Switzerland or worldwide. Swiss hospitality placements carry a gross minimum of CHF 2'390/month before deductions for accommodation, board and social security.

Where each master's points

Two different things are listed below, and they are labelled differently on purpose.

For the MSc in International Tourism Management and the MSc in Wine and Beverage Business Management, BHMS itself names the graduate roles on the programme pages — those are marked Graduate roles named by BHMS. For every other programme, no graduate roles are published, so what you see is the subject matter the modules cover. That is a description of what the degree teaches, not a claim about where its graduates end up.

Questions

Straight answers

Does BHMS publish graduate employment rates or starting salaries?

No — and you will not find those numbers on this site, because BHMS does not publish employment rates or graduate starting salaries for its master's programmes. What is published and independently audited is the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 result: BHMS ranks #12 in the world in Hospitality & Leisure Management, and #7 in the world for employer reputation within that subject. Employer reputation is the metric built from a global survey of employers, and BHMS cites it as the driver of its ranking improvement.

Is the internship part of the master, and is it paid?

Semester 2 of every MSc is a six-month independent research project with an OPTIONAL six-month industry internship, in Switzerland or worldwide — it is an option, not a compulsory component of the MSc. Where a Swiss hospitality placement is taken, it carries a gross minimum of CHF 2'390 per month before deductions for accommodation, board, social security and other benefits. BHMS states this minimum does not apply to placements outside hospitality, and that Swiss positions require German, French or Italian language skills.

What does the dual award actually put on my CV?

Two degrees, not one. Every BHMS MSc and the MBA with Specialisation are awarded jointly by BHMS and Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland, UK — so you graduate with a Swiss qualification and a UK university degree from the same year of study. Each MSc carries 90 ECTS / 180 UK credits. Scotland's top-ranked modern university in the current editions of all three major UK league tables, and Top 20 in the UK for graduate career prospects (Guardian 2026).

Which employers does BHMS work with for placements?

BHMS lists over 40 major hospitality brands as industry partners, among them Accor, Four Seasons, Hilton, Hyatt, Kempinski, Mandarin Oriental, Ritz Carlton, The Chedi. Published placement positions cover Food & Beverage Service, Front Office, Night Audit, Housekeeping and Kitchen roles, as well as back-office functions in sales, marketing, human resources, finance, PR and reservations.

Do any of the master programmes include an industry certification?

Yes. The MSc in Wine and Beverage Business Management and the MSc in Culinary Entrepreneurship both embed WSET Level 2 inside the Emerging Trends in Global Wine Entrepreneurship module, examined as part of the master rather than bolted on afterwards. The MSc in Business and Airline Management includes IATA Airport Operations Fundamentals certification — the industry body’s own credential — earned alongside the academic award.
