Living expenses are a shared standard room on the LakeSide Campus in Lucerne plus meals. Room upgrades and the Zurich rooms cost extra, and a refundable CHF 1'500 room deposit (about ₹1.7 lakh) is paid separately. All of it is on the fees page.
The paid internship, and why there's no part-time job
Students who need a visa may not work outside the internship built into their programme, so don't plan on a part-time job to cover costs. The internship is the paid part: on the MSc it's an option in Semester 2, in Switzerland or abroad. Swiss hospitality placements pay a gross minimum of CHF 2'404 a month, about ₹2.8 lakh, before deductions for board, lodging and social insurance. Treat it as help with costs, not as the way to pay the fee. How Semester 2 works.
Which programme: MSc or MBA?
Eight MSc degrees, all one year, all CHF 41'700: Global Business Management, International Hospitality Business Management, International Tourism Management, Wine and Beverage Business Management, Business, Sports and Event Management, Business, Banking and Finance, Business and Airline Management, Culinary Entrepreneurship. The programmes page compares them side by side.
The MBA in Switzerland is the general management route: eight core modules in Lucerne, then a project in one of 7 specialisations, including International Hospitality Management and Luxury Brand Management. It starts in November and February (November 2026, February 2027, November 2027). The MBA is taught at a demanding English level; if your English is still building, the MSc is usually the better fit. The Swiss student visa from India, step by step
For a stay over 90 days you need a national (D) visa. The Swiss Embassy in New Delhi publishes its own checklist; this is what it asks for (version 09.2023 — check the current one on the embassy's site before your appointment):
- Where: in person at the Visa Section, Embassy of Switzerland, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, with an appointment booked online through VFS.
- Forms: three completed and signed visa application forms, plus one original and two copies of every document.
- Passport: issued within the last 10 years, valid at least 3 months after your planned return, with two blank pages. Four passport photos on a white background.
- Cover letter: why you're studying in Switzerland, your plans afterwards and how the studies will help you, plus a confirmation that you'll leave Switzerland when you finish.
- CV and the letter of acceptance from the school, with proof of fee payment where that applies.
- Academic records: Secondary, Senior Secondary and university certificates, originals plus colour copies, without "true copy" or notary stamps.
- English: a certificate such as TOEFL or IELTS is mandatory.
- Finances: a signed sponsor letter covering all costs, explaining where the money comes from and your relationship; the sponsor's passport copy; ITR-V for the last two assessment years; three months of bank statements, stamped and signed by the bank.
The student visa itself carries no fee. The embassy forwards the file to the migration office of the canton where you'll study, which decides; the embassy can only issue the visa after a positive decision, and it may ask for more documents. BHMS notes that visa requirements differ for applicants aged 30 and over.
